Up Around The Bend
04:20
|
|||
The days move slow
Yet the years fly by
And the more we think we know
The more we should ask why
Cuz the story never ends
What fades away is clear again
What lies behind is up ahead
Around the bend
Well, the seasons turn
And the world is spinnin’ round
But time she just stands still
Never makes a sound
Cuz the story never ends
What fades away is clear again
What lies behind is up ahead around
The bend
Each moment’s but
A memory
Awaiting rediscovery
The path is curved
And the burdens are hard to bear
But the lessons we all learn
Will get us there
Cuz the story never ends
What fades away is clear again
What lies behind is up ahead around
Up around the bend
Each moment’s but
A memory
Awaiting rediscovery
Up around the bend
Around the bend
So wait for me
Around the bend

Here Be Dragons
03:34
|
|||
Blood red on her lips
Perfume in her hair
Tonight she’ll be a sinner
Or an angel in despair
Staring in the rear view
Deciding where to turn
If you play with fire
You surely will get burned
Here Be Dragons
Here Be Dragons
Well, she always does the right thing
And she always keeps her word
But this loneliness and heartbreak
Have caused the lines to be blurred
His eyes call from the border
At the point of no return
Sparkin’ that old fire
She welcomes in the burn
Here Be Dragons
Here Be Dragons
You see this story that she’s weaved
It ain’t enough to make believe
That her soul won’t bear the cost
Of a trust forever lost
She unlocks the back door
Heads on up to bed
But she still can’t help but wonder
Where desire might have led
Knowing that forbidden fruit
Won’t satisfy the yearn
Yet the taste of sweet temptation
It lingers and it burns
Here Be Dragons
Here Be Dragons
Beware the dragons
Slay the dragons

Right To Bear Arms
04:35
|
|||
Don’t say a word
Don’t be afraid
Take hold of my hand and hide
Just like our drill
Sit quiet and still
No one will come inside
In the quiet dark she wonders
How they’ll make it out alive
Still she bravely gives them comfort
As they hear the bullets fly
ABC’s
AR-15
Confusion outside the door
They hear him walk in
“Forgive us our sins”
She whispers and then they’re gone
Too many times I’ve sat and wondered
How we let it go awry
How a law meant to protect us
Became a place for greed to hide
Our right to bear arms
Our right to bear arms
Our right to bear arms
Now is the time
We must take action (We need more than thoughts and prayers)
Raise up our voices to be heard (We need more than thoughts and prayers)
Take back the right our Fathers fought for (We need more than thoughts and prayers)
Not the right to kill
The right to live
She sits on his bed
Can’t comprehend
Her six year old baby is dead
Twenty five more
Their blood on the floor
The nightmare replays in her head
In the dark she numbly wonders
How they justify the cost
Of the profits they’re defending
And the right her son has lost
Our right to bear arms
Our right to bear arms
Our right to bear arms

That'll Have To Wait
04:04
|
|||
Staring at your face across from me
A stranger where a lover used to be
And the words that you are sayin’
Mean my world’s about to shake
So the hearing
That’ll have to wait
When you took away your love so suddenly
Didn’t give me time to cry or even breathe
The tears will soon be raining
Like a crossfire hurricane
But the feeling
That’ll have to wait
Now they say that God don’t give us
More than we can take
But the pain of losing you
I just can’t face
Cuz a heart that’s used to lovin’
You know it don’t know how to bend
It just breaks
This heart may mend and learn to love again
I can’t say with who or why or even when
As time goes by the bitter fades
And goodness shall remain
But forgiving
That’ll have to wait
Now they say that God don’t give us
More than we can take
The pain of losing you
I can not face
Cuz a heart that’s used to lovin’
You know it don’t know how to bend
It just breaks
So forgiving
Forgiving
Forgiving
That’ll have to wait
That’ll have to wait

In December
04:44
|
|||
In December
When the darkness falls
So early in the day
And the stars light up the silent sky
Shadows run away
The northwind hums a melody
It’s solstice lullaby
In December
I still believe in love
I remember
The years we shared
Christmas’s of past
Celebrations
Reflected in
Each ornamental glass
Every snowflake holds a memory
That melts away too fast
I remember
And still believe in love
I still believe in Santa’s bells
And the angels up above
I still believe in Winter’s magic dust
I still believe that dreams come true
When we wish upon a star
I remember
And still believe in love
Like the ember
By the fireside
That rose and shone so bright
Too soon descending
Surrendering
It’s brilliant breath of life
We couldn’t know that someday comes
Much sooner than we planned
For the ember
I still believe in love
I still believe in Santa’s bells
And the angels up above
I still believe in Winter’s magic dust
I still believe that dreams come true
When we wish upon a star
And In December
Even though you’re gone
In December
I still believe in love

He will walk 21 steps
Turn and pause 21 more
For the lives that fell before
He will walk 21 steps
Turn and pause 21 more
For the nameless lost at war
He walks along the black mat
No rank upon his sleeve
Silent sentinel, Company E
Buff strap on his shoulder
Wreath badge upon his chest
The Old Guard salutes
Those who lay at rest
He will walk 21 steps
Turn and pause 21 more
For the lives that fell before
He will walk 21 steps
Turn and pause 21 more
For the nameless lost at war
Three wreaths on the north side
Three wreaths on the south
A World of Memories, Six Battles fought
For you in honored glory
In patriotic laud
You’re name is known, but only to God
He will walk 21 steps
Turn and pause 21 more
For the lives that fell before
He will walk 21 steps
Turn and pause 21 more
For the nameless lost at war
In victor and valor
You offered us your life
A soldier makes the final sacrifice
We know not your name
But we remember all you gave
In every step and pause the proud guard takes
He will walk 21 steps
Turn and pause 21 more
For the lives that fell before
He will walk 21 steps
Turn and pause 21 more
For the nameless lost at war
He will walk 21 steps
Turn and pause 21 more
For the namless lost at war
He will walk 21 steps
Turn and pause 21 more
Til the day we war no more

Avarice and Greed
03:02
|
|||
Avarice and greed
Sell your soul to fill the emptiness
Insatiable the need
Manipulating, self obsessed
Feed the devil on your shoulder
Better angels should run for cover
Welcome to the madness
Narcissistic creed
You put me down to raise yourself higher
Fake reality
Twist the truth to your desire
Feed the devil on your shoulder
Better angels should run for cover
Welcome to the madness
A tortured life of rage and insanity
Born inside a moment of cruelity
Beware: misery loves her company
Revenge and jealousy
Red with anger, green with envy
Lost morality
Changing colors in wild hypocrisy
Feed the devil on your shoulder
Better angels should run for cover
Welcome to the madness
Avarice and greed
You see, it’s all about me
Avarice, avarice and greed

The Raven
04:22
|
|||
Said the Raven to the Eagle
Guide me through the night
Lead me from the darkness
To He Who Stole The Light
Answered Eagle to the Raven
Seek the Bentwoods three
One inside another
Carved from Cedar Tree
Raven journeyed many miles
On mighty wing he took to flight
Across the oceans deep and wide
Til in his sight
A ring of fire
Shifted Raven to hemlock needle
Floating down the stream
The daughter sipped the water
Bore grandson to the Chief
Then the Raven disguised as human
Tricked the greedy Chief
Opened all the boxes
And set the treasures free
Scattered stars that shimmer bright
Hung the moon to light the night
Rose the sun high in the sky
And unto the world
Released the fire
Raven soared through smoke so high
Forever changed
To black from white

Lost In Blue
04:10
|
|||
If colors are emotions
And the story’s told within the art
There stands an empty canvas
Waiting for the brush to start
Staring at the palette
Too afraid to feel
Knowing it will break his heart
Empty and abandonded
Little boy lost in blue
Lost in blue
Lost in blue
Suffering the demons
Of doubt that live inside of you
Lost in blue
Lost in blue
Fading in the sadness
Little boy lost in blue
Each stroke a truth to feel
A gallery to heal
The wounds that left you color blind
Reflections on the weave
Will light the hope you need
To leave the years of pain behind
Another day is dawning
Shrouded in a world of gray
Awaiting in the colors
The strength to paint the shame away
When he begins see them
The portrait will reveal
He was not the one to blame
Lift him from the darkness
No longer lost in blue
Lost in blue
Lost in blue
Suffering the demons
Of doubt that live inside of you
Lost in blue
Lost in blue
Fading in the sadness
Little boy lost in blue
May love release the sadness
For little boys lost in blue

Wrapped Inside Your Love
04:03
|
|||
Your love surrounds me like a blanket
So soft and warm
From the moment that I felt it
I knew where I belong
The last sound before I fall asleep
The first when I awake
Your voice the only one I’ll ever need
Wrapped inside your love
All that I am and all I will be
I give to you
With this promise now a family
One heart from two
The last sound before I fall asleep
The first when I awake
Your voice the only one I’ll ever need
Wrapped inside your love
And as we journey toward the twilight
Still hand in hand
Ever with you right here by my side
Through every grain of sand
The last sound before I fall asleep
The first when I awake
Your voice the only one I’ll ever need
Wrapped inside your love
Your love
Your love

Josephine
03:59
|
|||
A rainy Ozark night a baby girl is born
Dent County 1894
Josephine Melinda gave a muffled cry
First in a lifetime of countless more
Hamp was tall and lean with eyes as black as coal
And a dark spot upon his soul
Sweet Josie took his name at seventeen years old
His four children she soon bore
He shot a man for stealing from his water well
Or so his story goes
Left him there to die on that dusty bowl
The judge said “guilty” and the cell door closed
So Josie worked the railroad while he did his time
Cookin’ up and down that KT Line
She heard that Hamp was free and had a family
And a wife ‘cross the Kansas state line
The orphan’s home the only way to save her kids
Their love she’d not forsake
She kissed them all, wiped a tear and in their ear
Said “I’ll be back, whatever it takes”
She stood before the preacher for a second time
With Mr. Coffey in ’25
No wedding gown, a union for to save their lives
She’d be a widow in twenty years time
Oh Josephine
Sweet Josephine
I miss your spit firin’ smile
The third time was to Russ when she was fifty five
She loved that man until the day she died
Five score and twenty three she smiles at me
Lookin’ down from our crooked blood line
Oh Josephine
Sweet Josephine
I miss your spit firin’ smile
Josephine
Jospehine
Won’t you sit for, sit for awhile

The Long Road
05:05
|
|||
There are the ones you call friends
There are the ones you call late at night
There are the ones who sweep away your past
With one wave of the hand
There are the ones you call family
There are the ones you hold close to your heart
There are the ones who see the danger in you
And won't understand
I can hear your voice in the wind
Are you calling to me
Down the long road
Do you really think there's an end
I have followed my dreams
Down the long road
You are the one that I met long ago
You are the one who saw my dreams
You are the one who took me from my home
And left me off somewhere
Somehow I feel that you are here
You are waiting in that dream
Somewhere down this road we will awake
And be at the start again
I can hear your voice in the wind
Are you calling to me
Down the long road
Do you really think there's an end
I have followed my dreams
Down the long road
I've got to find you tonight
Are you waiting for me
I have followed my dreams
And I have lived my whole life
Are you waiting for me
I can hear your voice in the wind
Are you calling to me
Down the long road
Do you really think there's an end
I have lived my whole life
Down the long road
Do you really think there’s an end
Do you really think there’s an end

Angels Fly
04:04
|
|||
In a seat by the window
Southbound on I-95
Prayin’ the driver
Will get me to you in time
The whole ride my mind’s eye
Is seeing your life flashing by
Angels fly
The things I remember
Too many to share in these lines
More than the markers
Of the miles I count rolling by
And my heart is breaking
Cuz you won’t see 49
Angels Fly
More than a sister
A daughter, a partner
So much more than a friend
And though I was older, you were the wiser
Cuz you knew that in the end
Angels fly
I sit by the window
Northbound on I-95
The ring on my finger
Proof that you walked in this life
And now that it’s over
I can’t even whisper goodbye
Angels fly
More than a sister
A daughter, a partner
So much more than a friend
Though I was older, you were the wiser
Cuz you knew that in the end
Angels fly
Angels fly
Angels fly

Sun goes down
In a town called Little Egg
Many miles from home
She never thought
She’d end up quite this way
That morning long ago
A child bride
In a gown her Mama made
To hide the baby on the way
And through his eyes
She could leave behind the pain
From the wounds that never fade
Tomorrow’s gonna be a better day
Tomorrow’s gonna be a better day
Tomorrow’s gonna be a better day
Ten years by
And the more their family grew
The more he stayed away
She didn’t cry
The day she learned his lover’s name
And of the vows he had betrayed
Tomorrow’s gonna be a better day
Tomorrow’s gonna be a better day
Tomorrow’s gonna be a better day
But tonight she grieves the dreams that might have been
Tonight she weeps for a love that couldn’t win
In the dark she lets the tears fall
For a broken innocence
Tomorrow’s gonna be a better day
She prays tomorrow’s gonna be a better day
Tomorrow’s got to be a better day
Sun goes down
In this town called Little Egg
Her baby girl is grown
A mama now
Raising two kids on her own
Round and round and round the story goes
They say tomorrow’s gonna be a better day
You’ll see tomorrow’s gonna be a better day
Tomorrow’s gonna be a better day
